Photograph what you want to remember

It doesn't have to be the view from the top. It might be the mud on your shoes, a flask resting on a rock, or the streetlights on a dark November evening. In Heia you can add photos to your activities as memories, so they stay together with the walk they belong to.

One photo is enough. The point is to capture the moment, not to create a perfect series.

Write briefly, but honestly

A line or two is plenty: who you were with, what was on your mind, whether it felt heavy or light. "Cold wind, but good to get home" says more about the day than an average pace.

Write while it's fresh, ideally right after you get back inside. A few days later the details have slipped away, and it's often the details that make a memory come alive.

Look back now and then

A diary is most valuable when you open it. Take a look at the end of the month, or when you don't feel much like heading out. It's often easier to get going again when you can see what you've actually done, and how lovely some of the most ordinary days were.

The photos and notes are yours. You decide whether any of it gets shared, or whether the diary is just for you.
